There is a quote I always appreciated from Mad Men. Roger Stirling is criticizing Don Draper because he dropped the ball when it came to a specific business relationship. Roger said something to the effect of Don not being good with relationships because he doesn't care about them. I think that is one of the best ways to go about both building relationships and even networking. Just show people that you care about them, whether it be their work or something else. If someone comes to mind, message them about it, I am sure they will appreciate it. It is really as simple as that.
